Worm Puzzle was inspired by the comic cases. The shape and position of cases are depend on the going of the storylines. If the line be changed, the order of cases would change too, and new distribution of black and white or a new image would be created. So I transformed the comic cases to the shape that can fit each others, which looks like crawling worms, and adding the magnets devices. The physical property of every materials contribute to the rule of this game.
One piece of the toy is an 3D object with size, weight, texture. But the individual property would gradually lost while the process of organizing. When it’s done, the single piece looks disappeared and only the composed 2D pattern could be seen. Actually during this period, we turned our attention from the specific part to the whole. The uniqueness of each piece are still there that hiding in the general image. Their eyes are looking to the direction of other near pieces’ butt.
Except the woody toy, the project also include a comic part. The 3D worm/piece become a 2D character in the comic, and his job is becoming 3D to be a piece of puzzle toy to make a big pattern. The world he living in is similar as ours, with different social classes, unhappiness, and unfairness. The worm also have dreams of being an artist, going to learn magic, or observing small things like the grass beside the road. The comic part is going to repeat the transformation of the different relationships in the woody toy, like the visibility and invisibility, part and whole, process and finishing.
